Samaritan House is fully funded through the generous donations of residents and the Las Vegas Community at large. Initial entry to the home can be obtained through rental assistance (Social Services) or day labor. Residents are then expected to obtain and sustain employment and are then requested to contribute a modest rent donation.
Residents are furnished with dormitory style room and board and prepared three nourishing hot meals per day by our chefs often receiving donations from the community and benefactors such as Road Kill Grill. We have comfortable communal living quarters and a weight area to help sustain excellent physical condition.
Our staff is prepared to assist residents with applying for any appropriate social services and we work with outside agencies as well. Samaritan House has ties with charitable entities such as Three Square, Hope for Prisoners and FIT (Foundation for an Independent Tomorrow) which provide job training, support and coaching. We often accept requests for skilled men from external employers.
We are looking forward to the future and proud to announce the Samaritan House Resource Center. At our Center, conveniently located across the street, staff will assist men looking to obtain their GED, prepare employment applications online and basic life coaching. Most importantly, recovery will begin. Meetings will be held at the Center, as they are today in the House.
Experience has proved the easier, softer way is through practicing the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions. No one can help or understand an alcoholic / addict like another alcoholic / addict, this is one of our founding principles. Our men are required to obtain a sponsor and attend meetings while residing at Samaritan House. We have members from all over the Las Vegas community who attend our meetings, looking to give away what they too have been so freely given.
Many of our residents have reached the end of their rope and we are “The Last House on the Block”. We pride ourselves on giving men a helping hand to return to their rightful place in society. With our resources, we give men the freedom of choice and the ability to grasp the keys to their kingdom. Hope is a powerful tool and it is obtained “One Day at a Time”.
